There aren’t many pictures from that holiday. And those I have, show me fake-smiling into the camera.

"THE" holiday 5 years ago. December 2019. Blue water. Sunny skies. Thailand for New Year. Blue water. 30 degrees. Paradise for all intents and purposes.

Yes, I was sitting on my deck chair for most of that holiday … crying. My partner couldn’t motivate me to do anything. I was miserable. I was unkind. Physically, I might have been in paradise, but mentally and emotionally, I was in hell.

Six months prior, I quit my job in London and moved to Myanmar with my partner. Ask any of my friends then, and they will tell you I was excited about this new life season.

So why end up crying on a deckchair?

It was the lowest point of what turned out to be an identity crisis stirred by the loss of my income, stability and day-to-day routines.

On that deckchair, I didn’t see a way forward. I only woke up on January 1st, knowing something needed to change.

And it did.

Fast forward 5 years …..

I support global change-makers design a work-life they love – and coach them to make it possible.

I coach them through life-changing career or leadership transition moments using my professional qualifications taken in the last five years and, yes, also my lived experience.

5 years on, I look back at an incredible journey of change.
🔺 From full-time employment to self-employed.
🔺 From chasing deadlines to learning to self-motivate.
🔺 From having prescribed KPIs to determine my business focus.

Is it easy?

You know I don’t sugarcoat.

I’ve plenty of times when I wake up with anxiety washing over me.

But these moments have become less over the five years.

The longer I use my coaching tools, the easier it gets:
🔺reducing self-sabotage by the inner critic with daily habits;
🔺connecting to my body and intuition to discern the right decisions, and
🔺connecting to my spiritual self on this journey.

Evolving your professional identity will stretch you.

Sometimes, you might think it will break you.

But let me tell you: it won’t.

Like a hermit crab, you find a bigger shell to fit into. A hermit crab changes shells when it outgrows its exoskeleton and needs to shed it.

To do that, having tools and practices in your back pocket is helpful. And someone who cheers you on and helps you find that bigger shell.
That’s what coaching can do for you.

I didn’t see any of this coming back in 2019. At so many moments, I doubted myself. But I kept going anyway. Somewhere, deep inside, I knew this was the way. And I need to walk the path.

That’s what I wish for you as you look back in 5 years from now.

That you started walking the path.

And that you look back and marvel at the person you have become.
